Boston College Eagles to use retro 1984 unis against Notre Dame Fighting Irish

“Boston College’s Under Armour uniforms for Saturday’s game against Notre Dame will mimic the ones worn by Doug Flutie during the famous Hail Mary game against Miami in 1984.

Under Armour took off the current maroon stripe down the middle of the gold helmet to give the helmet the look it had 31 years ago on Nov. 23, 1984, when Flutie forever became part of college football lore. The players also will wear an under layer that features that features the stripes of old on the arms, matching the look of the sleeves the team wore in the past.

Under Armour invited Flutie to its offices in Baltimore in August to model the uniforms.”

We’re a fan of the Boston College throwback uniforms being modeled by BC legend Doug Flutie! Considered by many to be one of the greatest plays in the history college sports, Flutie had an incredible “Hail Mary” pass that won the game against Miami in 1984. That same year he also was voted the Heisman Trophy winner – even before the “Miracle in Miami” pass was made. Hopefully the current Eagles team can channel the talent of this legend to make some magic at Fenway this weekend.
