The Bobcats have a long history of athletic prowess starting with the legendary basketball teams of the late 1920s and continuing with the football successes of recent years — winning twenty conference titles and three National Championships.

The Bobcats adopted their team mascot in 1916 because of the bobcat’s intelligence and cunning. Montana State colors, blue and gold, originate from the Alma Mater song, “Fling wide your colors bright and true, sunlight gold and ether blue.” Blue and gold Fridays take campus spirit from the stadium to the campus and community, throughout the entire year.
