Style Facts:
44 is the most storied jersey number in the history of Syracuse University Athletics. Since 1954, eleven football players have worn the number and three earned All-American honors. In fact, the number 44 has meant so much to Syracuse University that the school changed its telephone exchange to 443 and its ZIP code to 13244. In 2005, the number 44 was retired, but today’s jerseys still pay homage to the number by having it on the neckline and all of the striping slanted at 44-degree angles.
