University of Central Florida
Only opened in 1963, UCF is a relative newbie when it comes to collegiate athletics. But the school has grown to become the second largest university in the U.S. by enrollment. And in that same time, the UCF Knights have quickly garnered some acclaim on the athletic field as well. Conference championships in football and women’s basketball, a trip to the Final Four and a national champion cheerleading team — UCF is an athletic tradition in the making.

Style Facts:
UCF’s first mascot was the Citronaut — an homage to Florida’s nickname as the “Citrus State” and UCF’s background as a space-grant institution. In 1970, the student body voted to make the Knight UCF’s official mascot. The Knight steadily evolved over the years to become Knightro, UCF’s beloved black and gold armored mascot.
